Family Law in Texas:

Cooperation and collaborating are ways to effectively manage the family law case, where emotions often run high. We seek to enter a dialogue with opposing counsel from the very beginning regarding items we can agree on and items we disagree on. Thus, limiting the time in court to fighting over only the things we disagree on.

Our firm’s focus is family law, i.e. divorce, adoption, child protective services (cps), child custody, child visitation, child support, guardianship, wills, probate, as well as the child support jail release. We also combat cases filed by the Attorney General’s Office, Domestic Violence and Protective Orders, Grandparents Rights, Enforcement of Court Orders, Name Changes, Paternity or DNA Testing, Prenuptial and Postnuptial Agreements, Modifications of Orders and of course Mediation. Our firm has over 16 years of experience practicing in these areas before judges in Travis county and the surrounding counties of Williamson, Hays, Caldwell, Bastrop and Lee counties.

Our firm has the experience and expertise to ensure that your rights are protected in the Texas family law case, while also upholding best interests of the child. We are aggressive and very active civil litigators that are aptly skilled whether your case is tried before a judge or a jury.

Agreed and Uncontested Divorces: Couples sometimes can reach an agreement regarding the family law issues in their divorce. If so we can help you take that final step in getting your agreements recognized by the court.

Contested Divorces: Couples oftentimes cannot reach an agreement. If so, we file the family law action as a contested divorce. In a community property division, our firm will make sure you receive your fair share of marital assets. Alimony or spousal support may also be awarded if you and your partner were married for a certain length of time and meet requirements established by the Texas Family Code.

Adoptions: Our firm handles all types: be it step-parent adoptions, open adoptions are those that are closed. We can help guide you through the process.

Child Custody and Modification of Custody in Texas: Our firm helps its clients arrive at a child custody agreement that works for both parents and the children involved. If you cannot reach an agreement, rest assured we will aptly represent you in front of a judge. Unlike some attorneys who charge you a bunch of money and only “reach agreements” thereby never stepping foot inside a courtroom – we are fully prepared to take that next step should a hearing be necessary.

Child Support in Texas, Enforcement and Arrearages: Sometimes parents are unable to collect the child support that is owed to them. If so, we can help you take your case to court and obtain a judgment for any monies owed. Payments will then flow to you immediately. If you have fallen behind in child support payments, our firm will interact with the Attorney General’s office in reinstating your drivers license and other privileges as well as negotiate with the OAG on any child support arrearages you may owe.

Paternity in Texas: Should you need to legally establish paternity of a child, our firm can help you with the process and with child visitation and child support issues. It is important to note that in Texas, a child born as a result of a marriage is presumed to be the child of the husband, unless a paternity test establishes otherwise. Know your rights!

Grandparents’ Rights in Texas: Sometimes parents are not in the position to care for their children. Let our firm help you obtain legal custody of your grandchildren in family court.

Child Protective Services (CPS) cases in Texas:  African American and Hispanic families are disproportionately affected in the number of cases filed by the Department of Family and Protective Services (CPS for short). Our firm can help you successfully defend against CPS obtaining custody of your child. We can also help family members seeking to terminate parental rights in order to protect a child from abuse. We also gladly help families falsely accused of abuse.

Prenuptial Agreements in Texas:   Also called premarital agreements in Texas. In the event you have been married before or have garnered substantial assets prior to marrying for the first time, a prenuptial agreement can protect your financial interests and the inheritance rights of any child from a prior marriage.

Domestic Violence in Texas: If you have been the victim of domestic violence in Texas or assault by a partner, contact our office. We can help you obtain a protective order in Texas. The abused partner can also obtain a greater share of the marital estate if certain conditions are met, in the event of a divorce. Know your rights! Call our firm today.
