Brian Y. Bernard | Bernard & Associates P.C. Brian Y. Bernard practices family and criminal law in the state of Texas. He was born in Chicago, IL. After the Chicago blizzard of 1979 his parents decided to change their climate and moved west. He grew up in Los Angeles, CA where his lifelong love of the ocean began. He has a special affinity for the Rules of Evidence and routinely uses that knowledge to the dismay of opposing counsel.
He is also certified to perform the Standard Field Sobriety Test and uses this knowledge in the defense of clients who have a pending DWI. Prior to beginning his firm in 1997 he served as an intern with the Washington D.C. Public Defenders Office and the Office of the Attorney General Consumer Protection Division. Brian is licensed to practice in Texas and before both the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals and the Western District of Texas. Brian has tried both civil and criminal jury trials as well as numerous felony and misdemeanor jury trials in Travis and Williamson counties. He also practices in Bastrop, Caldwell, and Hays counties. In November 2011, Brian Bernard and Tanisa Jeffers collaborated on a federal criminal appeal and were successful in being granted Oral Argument before a 3-Judge Panel of the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans, LA. The 5th Circuit reports that only 12% of cases filed are selected to present Oral Argument before the federal judges, they are very proud of this significant accomplishment..
